CADY – Talking About the Social Implications of Fashion
Last January we launched CADY with a dynamic discussion about the representation of female candidates in the media during the election. This year we wanted to kick off the year with a discussion about fashion and how the current trends represent the social, political and economic climate in which we live. Fashion has always been a powerful form of artistic expression as well as a tool to repress women throughout history. We were delighted to create a unique opportunity to think and talk about the implications of fashion as art form, personal expression and political statement.
We compiled a dynamic panel of women from all aspects of the fashion industry. A lively discussion about how fashion has shaped the role of women in our society took place at the W Hotel (what a great event space!) on Wednesday, Feb. 3rd. Our panel included:
Gordana Gehlhausen – Fashion Designer on Project Runway Season 6.
Missy West – Costume Designer, San Diego Opera
As a special treat, following the CADY event, Gordana presented some of her designs at a Trunk Show at the W Hotel.
Thanks to the super team at the W Hotel for the partnership and support of CADY! Also, special thanks to J Public Relations (www.jpublicrelations.com) for their ongoing support of The Henley Company projects, particularly CADY!
